It’s been a busy week for UFC as they first heard the news that Lightweight Champion, Rafeal Dos Anjos, was pulling out of UFC 196 citing an injury (broken foot). UFC apparently wanted to keep McGregor on the card and scurried to find a replacement. Several names were shuffled around including Frankie Edgar, Donald Cerrone (coming off a camp and always ready for a fight), and even Jose Aldo. However, each had their own reasons for not taking the fight on such short notice. Enter Nate Diaz who called out Conor McGregor after his latest fight in a profanity laced post fight interview.
The stage is now set for these two to battle March 5 at UFC 196. Below is the press conference announcing the fight officially. The presser starts at 27 minutes into the video.
